Portable Appliance Testing
Portable appliance testing is applicable to a variety of electrical appliances ranging from 110volt power tools and extension leads through to 230volt items such as office and kitchen equipment (including microwave emission testing). In other words, any device which derives its electrical power via a cable of flex fitted with a plug or socket.PAT will provide you with evidence that your electrical equipment is properly maintained and "fit for purpose" thus helping you to comply with the law and many insurance policies.
Regulation 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Act 1989 states...
"As necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as reasonably practical, such danger."
Regulation 5 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 states...
"Every employer shall ensure that work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and is in good repair."
